5 months and more...

We are a couple of weeks late in posting, but the first photos were taken at 5 months (okay 5 months and 1 day, but close enough). Last weekend Bonnie came to visit from Iowa. It was great to see her and relive our Chapel Hill days. Livia really enjoyed hanging out with her and hopes that she did not wake Bonnie up too much (good call on bringing earplugs-- though of course Livia is sleeping much better this week now that there isn't anyone in the guest room to wake up). The video was shot earlier tonight. Livia did "tripod" sit for several seconds, but by the time we grabbed the camera I guess she got pretty tired. We will take more photos and videos as she perfects this new skill...

A trip to the beach

This weekend we took Livia to one of our favorite local getaways, Carolina Beach. We love to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott because it is right on the ocean-- every room has a balcony overlooking the water and the view from the bed by the window makes it look like you are sleeping right on top of the ocean. It was a quick trip, but we enjoyed a nice walk on the beach and a great seafood meal (even if Dan and I didn't actually sit at the table together for very long during the meal-- we kept thinking Livia would fall asleep but she had other plans). The only glitch was that Livia also experienced her first tornado threat while we were there. We did leave our top floor room at one point to venture down to the lobby, but after a few minutes (and the realization that we were the only ones who appeared concerned, when the two other people in the lobby with us were busy watching the basketball game) we decided that we would be okay. This morning we stopped in Wilmington on the way home to have brunch with Laura, Jeff, and Luke in their new house, but unfortunately we forgot to break out the camera.

Grandma Marilyn and Grandpa David come to visit

This past weekend the Floridian grandparents came to brave the NC winter. Livia and Cassidy were both excited for the visit, though Cassidy gave a more enthusiastic greeting (Livia could stand to learn from Cassidy in this department). It was a quick trip, but we all had a nice time and we were able to enjoy two nice meals with Livia on pretty good behavior (she doesn't cry much in restaurants lately but she likes to coo and shriek in a really loud voice, like she is trying to be heard over the noise-- she does not use this volume at home ever).

March 2008

Livia has come a long way in the past couple of weeks. She is now rolling over from back to front although sometimes her arm gets in the way. She especially likes to do this in the crib, and most mornings we find her on her stomach (I guess she is letting her thoughts be known on the "back to sleep" campaign-- but we already knew how strong-minded she is at a very young age). She loves staring at her hands and has also recently discovered how interesting her feet are. She hasn't figured out how to put her feet in her mouth yet, but Cassidy is trying to teach her since it's one of Cassidy's favorite ways to spend the day. Here are some recent photos...
