The antics of Cassidy Dog

We thought that Cassidy deserved her own post once again. A couple of weeks ago, Cassidy ate one too many baby toys and we narrowly averted a trip to the emergency vet. Dan tried giving her a lecture about turning into a canine delinquent, but it was to no avail. We finally installed a gate in the playroom, not to keep Livia in, but to block Cassidy out when temptation is just too strong. Cassidy begins the day with full privileges-- she is allowed into the playroom with Livia and the toys. If she starts trying to eat a baby toy though, she receives a warning. After two warnings, she finds herself on the other side of the gate (see below). Of course she is very smart, and it often takes a treat to lure her out of the room (which may be part of the reason why she misbehaves in the first place). I guess this is the doggie version of time-out. Livia has proved too smart for the gate as well. You may notice a space between the gate and the floor. We didn't think this was a big deal since it's too small for Livia or Cassidy to fit under. Livia will often take the special toy (whatever Cassidy got kicked out of the room for trying to eat) and pass it under the gate to Cassidy, who waits on the other side. So we still need to be vigilant even with the gate. Cassidy and Livia are always keeping us on our toes.

Livia has finally started feeding herself some things, though she is very picky about what she eats. If she is not sure about something, is full, or is feeling particularly generous, she throws it to Cassidy. This is what mealtime looks like in our house. Sometimes Livia takes a piece of food in her hand, holds it out to Cassidy, then laughs and eats it herself instead.

I have been trying to find activities that both Livia and Cassidy can enjoy. Here is one thing that I found last week. Just in case you are worried, the bubbles are barbeque-chicken flavored (from Petsmart), so you don't have to worry about another trip to the emergency vet.

I had no idea they made bubbles like that!

Just think about what Cassidy and Livia are going to be able to accomplish when Livia gets older. Sounds like trouble to me!

Gosh, I thought it was challenging finding activities for an eighteen month old and a four year old, but that's nothing compared to a one year old and a dog. It looks like you are doing wonderfully though! I love Livia's giggle!

P.S. Gabriella loved the video. She kept asking me to play it again and again. Oh yeah, she wants me to tell you we're in Las Vegas now. (She had me tell Robert that too the other day when he called home from work.)

Livia is one smart little girl! She has a partner-in-crime in Cassidy! The video is so cute.

I hear you on antics..Alison and Bailey dog have a LOT of them , especially when it involves food.. (Alison likes to try to slip Bailey food she doesn't want under her high chair) and Bailey also loves Alison's toys (which like Livia, Alison enjoys GIVING to him to tear/destroy!)
Cute video. I had no idea about flavored bubbles, Bailey enjoys the original. haha

Grandma Mari Says,

This is the real Livia. Laughing up a storm. Too bad we didn't have Cassidy and the bubbles at her baby naming ceremony. She would have enjoyed that for sure.

Keep sending these great pictures.

Love to all of you!
